Phonyx is a tool for practising reading aloud. You add a text, read it, and it shows you where what you said and what was written came apart — with a score, a per-word drill list and a reference pronunciation. You can try it without paying, and you never need a subscription.
Every new account gets 400 practice minutes, free. No card, no trial that quietly turns into a bill — when the minutes run out, nothing is charged and nothing renews. That is several hours of reading, which is enough to find out whether the thing is any use to you.
The unit is a minute of your reading. Recording, transcribing and analysing a take costs us money, so it is metered — but roughly, a minute of reading spends about a minute of balance. Nothing else on the site costs anything: reading your results, drilling a word, hearing the reference pronunciation and sharing a reading are all free.
Top-ups are one-time purchases, not a subscription. Minutes never expire, and any pack can be refunded within 30 days.
Prices are shown here in US dollars. At checkout you will see your own currency and whatever tax applies where you live — in some countries that tax is already inside the price shown, in others it is added on top. The checkout tells you which before you pay.
Payments are handled by Paddle, which is the seller of record. Your card details go to Paddle and never to us. Minutes are credited to your balance automatically, usually within seconds of the payment clearing.
Any pack bought in the last 30 days can be refunded in full — no reason needed, and it does not matter whether you used the minutes. The full policy is on the refund page.
